The Gospel
The good news
The message our church exists to proclaim: the gospel, as the Bible tells it.
1
We have all turned from God
God made us to know Him and to live for His glory. All of us have turned away, the respectable and the notorious alike. Good behavior does not mend it. The Bible says that sin earns death, and that we cannot pay our own way back (Romans 6:23).
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
2
God gave His Son for sinners
God did not wait for us to make ourselves acceptable. Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, lived the obedient life we have not lived, died on the cross bearing the punishment sinners deserve, and rose bodily from the grave. He did this for sinners.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
3
Eternal life is a gift, not a wage
Salvation cannot be earned. It is a gift, given to everyone who comes to Christ. He has never turned away anyone who came to Him.
“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.”
4
So turn, and trust Him
God does not ask you to clean yourself up first, or to join a church first. He commands you to turn from your sin and to rest your trust on Jesus Christ alone. The Bible calls this repentance and faith.
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
